Current AI is like the film company producing TV series or movies

Hey, how are you? I'm Michael Sun, the author of the resource manager Metaessen which can manage bookmarks, notes, tasks, project, etc.

Intelligence is like your own practice or experiences in the real world.

Current "artificial intelligence" (AI) is like the film company, where actors simulate or enact experiences under a director's guidance. This film company creates scripts based on your own descriptions (second hand materials) or other people's descriptions of you (multi hand materials), and then the director uses those scripts to guide actors in performing them.

Your question is like a story outline. You tell the film company that this is the movie you want. The AI film company then searches for existing similar stories. If similar stories do not exist or details are missing, screenwriters use imagination to fill in the gaps (remember hallucination? It's just a makeup.) and eventually create a complete story. Then the director finds actors to perform the story in different scenes and sets, followed by editing and other production steps. In the end, a complete film is produced (maybe including the statement: Based on a true story.), and then played for you. It may be the film you wanted, or it may not. Sometimes you may even feel deeply moved after watching it.

When this film company directs or produces films, it also involves many related things and phenomena, such as props, makeup, costumes, outdoor locations, film cities, filming equipment, audio equipment, famous actors, extremely high salaries, and so on.

The business of this film company is not limited to making movies. It also includes embedding actors' simulations or performances into real life, for example staged queues at newly opened stores.

Current AI has many similarities with the film company in terms of its essence, principles, production process, user experience, development path, marketing methods and phenomena, and many other aspects. In many places, the similarities are very strong.

Think about whether your experience of watching movies is very similar to your experience of using AI.

Just like movies and TV dramas, there are some works that you like, but most of them are poor quality productions that you do not like. Some can inspire or emotionally affect you, but most will be forgotten soon after watching them.

Watching too many movies can create a sense of emptiness and unreality. Using AI extensively can create the same feeling. In essence, they are the same.

Many people watch with great interest or become immersed in them. This film company has produced blockbusters, soap operas, and good works. Some people are affected by them and become deeply absorbed.

Among these films, some are excellent, but many are poor quality. Sometimes they are fascinating, and sometimes they make people dismiss them with contempt.

Current AI uses many methods similar to movie production to make audiences feel "captivated".

The experience of watching movies is also highly similar to the experience of using AI:

  • Movie content covers many things, just as AI generates a large amount of content
  • People rarely examine or study movies frame by frame
  • People can become immersed in good movies
  • For bad movies, people tend to skip through them as much as possible
